The Shepherd is a 20 minute long short film written, directed, produced, etc. by two eighteen year-olds: John Merizalde and David Torcivia. Fresh out of high school from Atlanta, Georgia, we are preparing to study film and broadcast at college. This is our first serious attempt at a truly professional (in an indie way) film.

The film is a psychological thriller (inspired by 1984) and was shot on a Canon HV30 at 24p 1/48 with no external lens or adapters. Color correction, special effects, and editing was performed in Sony Vegas and Adobe After Effects. Friends and family are used as actors in the film. The film is shot on location throughout the Atlanta area. This is a no budget project meaning we spent less than $80 on the entire film. The film took about a month and a half to complete.

Bill Hader, star of "Saturday Night Live" and Night of the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian, will voice Flint Lockwood, a young inventor who dreams of creating something that will improve everyone's life. Anna Faris, who recently turned heads as the star of the comedy hit The House Bunny, takes on the role of Sam Sparks, a weathergirl covering the phenomenon who hides her intelligence behind a perky exterior. James Caan plays Tim Lockwood, Flint's technophobic father. Andy Samberg plays Brent, the town bully who has plagued Flint since childhood. Bruce Campbell plays Mayor Shelbourne, who figures out that Flint's invention can put the town, and more importantly himself, on the map and Mr. T plays the by-the-rules town cop Earl Devereaux.

** Film took many months to do since our parents...well...didn't want us filming. We had to "Take life seriously". Deadlines were our goals...we had so little time to do whatever. In fact, I think that just may be the art of this film. Although they do support us 100% now after having some success with filmmaking.

Chipotle Pictures presents our multiple-award winning entry into both the Nuclear Age Peace Foundation's 2009 Swackhammer Disarmament Video Competition, and the 2009 "W.M.D. - We Must Disarm" International Video Contest hosted by the United Nations. The film won the grand prize in the Nuclear Age Peace Foundation contest for the second year in a row, accompanied by a cash prize of $1,000. This year's prompt was, "Breakthrough: Putting the Nuclear Genie Back In The Bottle." The film was awarded second place in the "W.M.D. - We Must Disarm" video competition. The film was produced over the course of three weeks using Sony Vegas Pro 8 and After Effects CS4, with some help from templates and pre-made objects from the fantastic site, Videocopilot.net. I had finished a shooting for a client in northern Italy and was driving already back home. On the way I saw some ruins that were surrounded by double line of walls. I was sure the town was not populated but as I went to have a look at it, for my big surprise people were doing their daily routines like in any other small village. I found it so idyllic that I had to unpack my cam and start filming. The weather was the worst possible for the colors. (Less)
