Comedy Documentary Fulfilling A Bewildering Variety of Empty Promises!
The two hour search for comedy's Holy Grail continues in Dave and Tom's outrageous look back at the history of comedy. You've seen actors Dave Beeler and Tom Konkle on other tv shows, now watch them discover a lost Monty Python-influenced sketch comedy troupe that bucks the norm of sketch today; instead opting for a more deliberate and cerebral approach. Delightfully nostalgic yet unmistakably original, you'll be glued to your screen as they take a look back on "this business of funny." From prehistoric p**nography to poetic clowns on mountainsides, after watching Dave and Tom you'll agree that history has never been this much fun. A spoof of BBC and Discovery Channel documentaries that promise to reveal a great mystery, this DVD is as one reviewer put it, "a silly journey through a world of scenarios... ranging from unfathomable science discoveries to absurd game shows, from sickly polite bank robberies to egomaniacal hat entertainers... their work achieves comedy on a level commensurate with Monty Python, Mr. Show and Little Britain, and highlights a sparkling sense of the off-color, rude and the importance of wacky nonsense. Always unexpected and always entertaining..." Parental Discretion Is Advised. (Less)

Xcorps Action Sports Show #45.)"SKATEPIPE"-seg4- The Xcorps HD shoot crew led by on host Jason Lazo rolled into the small southern California town of Upland to meet pool skate legend Steve Alba AKA Salba at the Pipeline skate park- home and roots to some of the best Vert skaters on the planet- for the next episode of Xcorps to be called SKATEPIPE.
This next XC show will feature Steve Alba ripping the Upland Pipe on his board along with many other talented locals catching massive air off the 20-foot tall 360-degree concrete tube. The Pipe is part of 10,000 sq. foot Skate Park, which opened to the public in 2002 and was designed by Steve Alba and California Skate parks Purkiss Rose.
One of the coolest skate zones we have shot, the Upland park is a holy zone modeled after the original Upland skate park of the 1970s-which was modeled after the original Baldy Flood Control Pipe- and contains all aspects of bank/vert skating starting with a mini-ramp take off ledge rolling into a phat metal coped half-pipe leading into a 20 foot full-pipe and ending in a deep swimming pool size vert bowl. YiKes!
Its a smooth fast speed zone and its not for beginners! Skate wheels sing there like banshee devil dogs and bone crunching freefalls happen easy! Xcorps cams captured some great action including shots from a POV cam attached to Salbas helmet. The Xcorps shoot crew-included network Emmy winner Dave Alvarez and producer Sundarajan also snagging HD shot action.
Xcorps host Jason Lazo talked with Steve Alba who lives in Upland about the killer park he helped design and his past and present career in the world of skateboarding. Jason also spoke to other skaters including a hot chick looping the tube and some ripper groms going full overhead! What will they morph into!??
Also in this episode is cool video footage of Steve Alba jamming with his band in a local So Cal club. Nice custom soundtrack to the action from Steve. Great new music videos from RIVE promotions and Suburban Noize Records rolls the action in this special Xcorps show.
Rounding out the shots in this episode will be some never before televised 16mm B&W film footage shot at a Pocatello Idaho Skatepark in 1980 by XC producer Stu Edmondson. Who knew they were skating in Idaho back then never mind a skate park!

Terra Madre is a project conceived by Slow Food, the philosophy of which evolved over the the organization’s history and crystallized at its realization that “eating is an agricultural act and producing is a gastronomic act.” Slow Food had always stood for the pleasures of the table, for the importance of good-tasting food, and for the defense of cultures facing growing homogenization as a result of today’s so-called modern rationales regarding production, distribution, and economies of scale. It was where these “rationales” were leading that brought Slow Food to realize the need to protect and support small producers, and to change the systems that put them in danger by bringing together those players with decision-making power: consumers, educational institutions, chefs and cooks, agricultural research entities, NGOs, etc. It became clear that it is only through repeated, cumulative, local action, following a guiding global vision, that a significant impact can be achieved.
Thus Terra Madre was born: To give voice and visibility to the rural food producers who populate our world. To raise their awareness, as well as that of the population at large, of the value of their work. To sustain their ability to work under the best conditions, for all of our good and for the good of the planet. For these reasons, constructing a global network—with information-sharing tools, the means to learn from each other, and opportunities for collaboration in many ways—seemed invaluable. We must continue to have fertile lands, lands on which sprout and grow plants and animals appropriate to those environments, rather than needing to be pumped full of chemicals to make them thrive artificially. And we must also continue to have the people capable of stewarding these lands, to have their know-how, so we can have food that still carries the tastes of our youth.
The inaugural gathering of Terra Madre launched the network in 2004 in Torino, and was on an unprecedented scale. This first edition brought together 5000 producers from 130 countries and shone global media attention on their crisis. The second edition was in 2006, and incorporated an additional 1000 cooks, from renowned to modest, but all aware of their role relative to high-quality food producers. Also in attendance were 400 researchers and academics, seeking to bridge the theory of their work with hands-on practice.
A project of this scope could never have come into being without a dedicated core of partners. Slow Food rallied public institutions as well as local, regional, and national bodies to collectively form the Terra Madre Foundation, further partnering with private companies and numerous like-minded networks, some of which were established specially for the event.
