Part Two in "Death of a Neuron," an anti-drug trilogy. In this paranoid odyssey of adolescent change, three best friends try to make their first feature film. As they progress with this fantasy, reality fades into the absurd. An ironic and naturalistic critique of suburban youth culture. Metaphorical, surrealist and lewd, the film breathes randomness.
While a great deal of absurdist fiction is humorous in nature, the hallmark of the genre is not humor, but rather the study of human behavior under circumstances that are highly unusual. Unlike many other forms of literature, absurdist works will not necessarily have a traditional plot structure (i.e. rising action, climax, falling action). Similarly, the “moral” of the story is generally not explicit, and the characters are often ambiguous in nature. It would be accurate to describe absurdism and absurdist fiction as an "acquired taste." The genre is a favorite among scholars because it lends itself so well to interpretation, discussion and debate.
Created for an avant-garde film course. It is an experimental piece.

Don Margolis Odyssey.
American Don Margolis is on a personal odyssey. While Homer fought Mythical creatures, Don is fighting deadly embryonic stem cell myths. His weapon is the truth, the Adult Stem Cell truth. That Adult Stem Cell treatments are helping with over 100 diseases RIGHT NOW. More embryonic researchers are coming out and saying that embryonic stem cells will not be ready to help ANYONE for decades. And that is just too long for Don Margolis to wait. So he has come to Keffalonia Greece to announce the formation of a new public service company that is dedicated to educating the public about the amazing abilities of Adult Stem Cells. He is here at the 3rd Annual Spinal Cord Injury Symposium at the invitation of Dr. Carlos Lima, a neurologist, that is helping paralyzed victims walk again, using Adult Stem Cells and massive rehabilitation. This is a work about climatic landscapes, the landscape is a purely human notion, it cannot exist without the human's intervention, it exists under several forms, the landscape is not only a pretty postal card, that can be sonorous, olfactory, abstracts, temporal, minimalist, metaphorical... etc. So, what is a landscape if it is only an exclusively human conception?. The project reflects on urgent matters concerning our lifestyle, throwaway society and cultural intolerance/ignorance. It discusses in which directions the world will possibly develop, which relationships/communities are about to be created in context to different perceptions of environmental sustainability and climate change. What does it mean to protect and keep things how they are? Is it necessary to destroy, to form something new? SUEX creates an immersive platform to distinguish a change of thinking, a shifting of accommodated world conception. The viewer is suddenly confronted with language barriers (in the sound composition) and an “unwanted” identification with thoughtless consuming pattern in the video images that address the importance of nature as the main source of life. Presented at ARTECH08, University of Porto/Portugal. 2007/08 - SUEX english 06:40 min, SUEX japanese 09:20 min, SUEX hebrew 07:57 min, SUEX noongar 05:30 min. (Less)

Dazed and Confused magazine invited me to re mix their January'09 edition on British Youth Culture using photographs by Hedi Slimane.
I wanted to convey the idea of breaking apart and transforming something into a beautiful, flowing movement of imagery which links and works together to form something new. For the subject matter I've broken apart the helmet photo, forming symmetrical shapes. The idea is to start off with a full helmet and finish with an intricate web of inter connecting shapes made up of elements from the helmet and various other armor.
The technique I've used is to print out the images, photo copy them, then photo copy the copy, and so on until the image forms a completely different shape. These are then scanned back in to the computer and cut put together like stop frame animation. It gives it quite a low-fi organic feel. Various images are then colorised in bright neons every few frames. (Less)
