Xcorps Action Sports Show #18.) "MTN.BOARD" - seg2 - Xcorps host Eric Ducharme and 20 other dirt board skaters roll down the infamous Nate Harrison grade on the backside of Californias Mt. Palomar in this grassroots speed driven episode.
All terrain skating also known as mountain boarding is a hybrid sport that has taken skating to a whole new grass roots level of adrenalized excitement.
Once again Xcorps cameras were the only ones rolling on the action as boarders ripped down the 7 miles of rough fire road on the historic Palomar Mtn which is topped by the famous observatory. Race rules were simple - fastest time to the bottom of the mountain wins.
The show opens fast and hot as the X Guru and other boarders strap themselves to their specialized skateboards, which have pneumatic tires, and spring suspensions that help handle the bone jarring washboard ride. Dirt riders roll hard in show scenes backed by Maverick Records band One Side Zero. See the dust and gravel fly as Eric and the guys and one gal - Julian Lewis - slide into the hairpins. Lots of cool POV and multi angle speed shots here along with some brutal wipeouts. Most riders do wear full protective gear resulting in a good survival rate.
Eric then talks to race organizer Rob Eakle about the grass roots event and the sponsors that make it happen. After that Eric intros a new video from our friends at RIVE with the band Skinny Puppy showing some major break skills in their new video/song called Pro Test directed by William Morrison. Very hip shot and edited film backed with tunes by a world-class band. Check this vid!
The next segment rolls right into another new video from RIVE and Side One Dummy Records with the band Flogging Molly rocking a punk Celtic-Core Irish jig called Drunken Lullabies. See band member and pro skater Matt Hensley huck some sweet street skate moves here along with more dirt skate scenes with Eric from Mt. Palomar. Nice dusty wipeouts too! After that the X Guru interviews NHG 7 mtn board 1st place race winner Krazy Kris Kidwell and 2nd place winner pro Akoni Kama who talk about their recent gigs. The show wraps with more dirt skate action from Palomar including 4 year old Damian Hurtenstein showing his young board skills followed by a look at some core dirt board action scenes from the video Flirt With Dirt by Damon Krouse. Additional music by Off By One, Pressure 4-5 and Alien Ant Farm. Dirt boarders rule the dust!

http://www.a3film.com - At the Forest Ridge Mall, head of security Ronnie Barnhardt patrols his jurisdiction with an iron fist, combating skateboarders, shoplifters and the occasional unruly customer while dreaming of the day when he can swap his flashlight for a badge and a gun. His delusions of grandeur are put to the test when the mall is struck by a flasher. Driven to protect and serve the mall and its patrons, Ronnie seizes the opportunity to showcase his underappreciated law enforcement talents on a grand scale, hoping his solution of this crime will earn a coveted spot at the police academy and the heart of his elusive dream girl Brandi, the hot make-up counter clerk who won't give him the time of day. But his single-minded pursuit of glory launches a turf war with the equally competitive Detective Harrison of the Conway Police, and Ronnie is confronted with the challenge of not only catching the flasher, but getting him before the real cops do.

Dazed and Confused magazine invited me to re mix their January'09 edition on British Youth Culture using photographs by Hedi Slimane.
I wanted to convey the idea of breaking apart and transforming something into a beautiful, flowing movement of imagery which links and works together to form something new. For the subject matter I've broken apart the helmet photo, forming symmetrical shapes. The idea is to start off with a full helmet and finish with an intricate web of inter connecting shapes made up of elements from the helmet and various other armor.
The technique I've used is to print out the images, photo copy them, then photo copy the copy, and so on until the image forms a completely different shape. These are then scanned back in to the computer and cut put together like stop frame animation. It gives it quite a low-fi organic feel. Various images are then colorised in bright neons every few frames. (Less)

I made a short 30 second mood film to be projected on a giant screen before the Iconic catwalk where designers such as Vivienne Westwood had created one off pieces made entirely of ethically sourced materials. The idea was to film and photograph the fabrics and create a beautiful swirling montage of abstract textures set to a magical soundtrack by Synthia Music. (Less)

The video was envisioned and created by the collaborative team of myself and Drew Cox, who conceived, shot, edited and created the entire film, with full music production and performance being carried out by James Powell and Pete Devlin.
The brief of the project was to create a video that encapsulated both the Do-It-Yourself nature of the project as well as visualising its experimental fun and excitement.
Using all ‘real people, garments, textures and textiles from the Oxfam stores’ the video set out to employ a hybrid of creative techniques, from stop frame animation to organic textures and clothing, super 8 footage and photography. Music was specifically created and recorded from scratch to encapsulate the rawness and individuality of the footage.
We firstly set out to film over 30 people, all compiled from a mix of street castings in the London area. These people were then all shot interacting with each other in a range of different environments and studio space.
All the footage was then rotoscoped, to cut out each individual frame of each character and then composited in an array of different landscapes to create a multi layered, evolving environment, consisting of cut out fabrics, garments, textiles, paper cut outs, cardboard, coloured pens, page tears, stop frame photography and motion graphics.
The video encompasses the entire thinking and creation behind Oxfam DIY in its approach, stylistic vision and execution. (Less)
