Terra Madre is a project conceived by Slow Food, the philosophy of which evolved over the the organization’s history and crystallized at its realization that “eating is an agricultural act and producing is a gastronomic act.” Slow Food had always stood for the pleasures of the table, for the importance of good-tasting food, and for the defense of cultures facing growing homogenization as a result of today’s so-called modern rationales regarding production, distribution, and economies of scale. It was where these “rationales” were leading that brought Slow Food to realize the need to protect and support small producers, and to change the systems that put them in danger by bringing together those players with decision-making power: consumers, educational institutions, chefs and cooks, agricultural research entities, NGOs, etc. It became clear that it is only through repeated, cumulative, local action, following a guiding global vision, that a significant impact can be achieved.
Thus Terra Madre was born: To give voice and visibility to the rural food producers who populate our world. To raise their awareness, as well as that of the population at large, of the value of their work. To sustain their ability to work under the best conditions, for all of our good and for the good of the planet. For these reasons, constructing a global network—with information-sharing tools, the means to learn from each other, and opportunities for collaboration in many ways—seemed invaluable. We must continue to have fertile lands, lands on which sprout and grow plants and animals appropriate to those environments, rather than needing to be pumped full of chemicals to make them thrive artificially. And we must also continue to have the people capable of stewarding these lands, to have their know-how, so we can have food that still carries the tastes of our youth.
The inaugural gathering of Terra Madre launched the network in 2004 in Torino, and was on an unprecedented scale. This first edition brought together 5000 producers from 130 countries and shone global media attention on their crisis. The second edition was in 2006, and incorporated an additional 1000 cooks, from renowned to modest, but all aware of their role relative to high-quality food producers. Also in attendance were 400 researchers and academics, seeking to bridge the theory of their work with hands-on practice.
A project of this scope could never have come into being without a dedicated core of partners. Slow Food rallied public institutions as well as local, regional, and national bodies to collectively form the Terra Madre Foundation, further partnering with private companies and numerous like-minded networks, some of which were established specially for the event. Xcorps Action Sports Show #5.) "PAINTBALL" - seg.4 The X Corps team meets at one of the largest paint ball compounds on the west coast - Mr. Paintball - to duel hard with opponents from team Vengeance in this adrenalized war games episode. Paintball is an action sport growing faster than snowboarding and is statistically safer than golf and in various forms has become part of X sports scene. The game is popular for its high adrenaline levels and can be played indoors or out though it requires one to be physically fit and mentally sharp to compete with success and not get marked.
X Corps players Roslyn, Jason, Eric and Bob gear up with PMI Piranha paintball markers and a "Don't Tread On U.S." attitude. Squad leader and pro player 'Achilles' leads the way through various combat environments from tree covered hills and trenches to room to room urban duals all powered by fresh tunes from Maverick records including a cool song by the Paul Oakenfold-Ice Cube duo.
Hear the semi-automatics pop with welts raised on X Corps players and opponents in scenes with Bob Woodard rushing an enemy truck, Eric Ducharme taking friendly fire, Jason Lazo as urban guerilla and Roslyn Bradle getting captured and slammed in jail. Feel what an ambush feels like in a training exercise massacre scene shown in slow motion involving compound Special Forces players. The horror!
Also on this show is a new video from the Maverick records band Prodigy performing 'Babys Got a Temper'. Got milk? Then XC hosts Roslyn and Jason test ride the cool new Big Boy Scooters in Santa Monica Ca. See the new V-5 full suspension 55 cc 4-stroke model perform in a race between the XC hosts. These units fold easily into a car trunk and are a blast to ride! See www.bigboyscooters.com.
The show wraps with a coming soon preview and some sick helicam footage from the Long Beach to Catalina speed H2o races. This XC episode is an American original. WhooAAAhhh!!!
This show is kicked with music from The Rolling Stones and Dr. Dre, Paul Oakenfold and Ice Cube, Prodigy, Deftones, Carla Werner and Perry Farrell. Xcorps Action Sports Show #19.) "DUNES" - seg4 - In this episode Xcorps hosts Eric Ducharme and Rat Sult go to the sand vehicle capital of the world-southern Californias Glamis Dunes - to ride 700 horsepower sand rods and host Jason Lazo hangs with members of the band Collective Soul in this hard charging motor sports episode.
Segment one opens with a shot from space showing the vast sand area called Glamis Dunes 150 miles east of San Diego where a small fee gets you a pass into the biggest sand toy park on the planet where no license or smog test is required.
Its just another adrenalised day for hosts Rat and Eric who roll their new custom ALS high performance hot rods out of the trailer and onto the sand. See and hear the big V8s roar with fat paddle tires throwing sand tails on this big Halloween weekend where thousands of people come to ride their machines.
New music from the El Music Group band Collective Soul rock the action with the super sand buggies easily pulling second gear wheelies and big airborne flights in this awe inspiring sand environment. Hear Rats Glamis charge as POV in car cams put the sand in your face as the All Star Cars - bred from Baja racers - land safely after their 3-4 second above dune flights.
After that Jason hangs at the home of El Music Group founder Fred Croshal and members of the band Collective Soul - Ed Roland and Joel Kosche - who jam a cool smooth acoustic version of their new song Satellite from their new Youth CD. Sweet. Local backyard birds add a custom element not on the CD!
Then its back to the sand and the raw power from the Cadillac North Star motors gulping gas by the gallon as Rat and Eric descend the huge Oldsmobile Hill, the epicenter of sand action at Glamis. Check out the insanity as every type of sand rig from quads to MX to street trucks go wide open all the way to the top. See what the women of the sand look like and what they ride! Rat Sult talks to sand rod owner Keith Muir who tells about the rush of rolling the dunes in a 700HP full suspension vehicle.
After that the show rolls back to Jason who talks to Collective Souls Ed and Joel about their new CD and they perform another tune - Counting the Days - for the XC cameras.
The show closes out back in the sand with legend Robby Gordons truck doing a brutal hammer nosedive shot c/o Thrust1.com and GlamisInfo.com Keep the Dunes Free! Use your belts and wrist restraints.

A story about the discoveries of a creature sent to earth to investigate human life.
A philosophical view on things around us in Western Society.
Experimental Digital Media Production in English and German.
What are the film and the scenes about: THE STORY- BASIC IDEA.
The only character that appears in this experimental film as a kind of story teller is the Blind Queen, which is a creature from another world - sent as a human being - to investigate the earth, human behaviour and its relationship to nature and its inner self. It is a fiction story about a creature coming to earth that documents her feelings and experiences as a person.
The film shows different places and people passing by or in close-ups. The more outstanding people are, the more interested is the Blind Queen watching them. The story - if there is any - is pointed on Western Society and its lack of spirituality and understanding of inner worlds...
The setting is built up around places in Western Australia, City and landscapes, natural environments and industrial places. There is no specific time line. This experimental film has neither storyboard nor a clearly defined script with an action running through. The pictures that appear and the scenes are in a non-regular sequence and are following only the basic idea of these six stages of transformation in life. The film is produced in German and English with the choice of subtitles. (Less)

The project reflects on urgent matters concerning our lifestyle, throwaway society and cultural intolerance/ignorance. It discusses in which directions the world will possibly develop, which relationships/communities are about to be created in context to different perceptions of environmental sustainability and climate change. What does it mean to protect and keep things how they are? Is it necessary to destroy, to form something new? SUEX creates an immersive platform to distinguish a change of thinking, a shifting of accommodated world conception. The viewer is suddenly confronted with language barriers (in the sound composition) and an “unwanted” identification with thoughtless consuming pattern in the video images that address the importance of nature as the main source of life.
