If you could, then would you?

This is my short film exploring the ideas of pursuing perfection and of the abuse of power. Something that seems like a great idea at first might not, in practice, turn out to be that great.

TAKE TWO was made as the final project for a film making class that the actors and I were taking in Spring '09. Hope you like it!

The 6-minute-long film introduces four people who each are devoted to moving in some way. SYNOPSIS
Pour Alejandro, la musique classique est la chose la plus importante au monde. Alejandro demande aux passants le chemin afin de se rendre au concert ayant lieu le soir même. Malheureusement, sa naïveté et sa simplicité d'esprit ne le mène pas toujours au bon endroit au bon moment. C'est dans un métro obscur et angoissant que celui-ci affronte l'inconnu. Malgré son comportement maladroit, Alejandro trouve son chemin à travers le labyrinthe sous-terrain, où il fait de sombres rencontres. C'est en parallèle avec un concert enivrant et magistral que le pauvre homme se laisse guider par sa passion musicale.

A young boy, in his teens, lives his life in solitude, while earning a living as a male prostitute. He has apparently been abandoned by his parents and now in the care of a middle aged woman, who supports him at home, but also profits from working as his pimp/brothel madam. Their relationship is cold, detached and they rarely converse. The boy, who has been shielded from the outside world, has over time become detached from reality and craves the love of all the adults in his life, the woman and the paying men, as if to compensate for his parents'.. The boy passes his time partaking in an, almost obsessive, routine of collecting and collating mementos from the men who visit him for s*x. The woman, after using the boy for some time, abandons him without warning. After the loss of the woman, who is his mother to all intents and purposes, his thoughts return to the only other adult figures in his life: his customers. Struggling to find his identity and with no role model to guide him, he attempts to mimic the men in his life, which despite the abuse he has taken, work as the only people in his life that come close to a father figure. When Harvey's girlfriend cheats on him with a neighbor they break into his apartment. A box of cash is found, and their revenge turns into a heist. But the neighbor turns out to be dangerous, and a drug dealer, so Harvey and James end up on the run. A satirical crime film about two amateur robbers.

Created for an avant-garde film course. It is an experimental piece.
