I'm relatively new to fhe filmmaking industry, although years ago I did have an entertainment magazine called That's Entertainment Boston, which I published back East for over two years. After that I worked in sales, marketing and public relations and had a consulting business as an Executive Search Consultant. At the moment I'm juggling several activities related to making movies.. Last May I launched a blog geared towards film industry professionals and those just getting started called Filmmakers Notebook www.filmmakersnotebook.com. I am also the Director of Marketing for the Nevada Film Alliance and we're currently working on several programs to assist with filmmaking in our state including the launch later this year of The Nevada Film Project, which will be a combination contest, showcase and conference.
In addition to this, last fall I became co-producer and also acted as locations manager and script supervisor for a short film "Accused". We are currently in post production and I'm working on a marketing plan and strategy with the film's Executive Producer.
At this time I'm also developing a marketing campaign for the family friendly political feature, "Running 4 President", which was filmed in Las Vegas and sold out its first theatrical screening here last December.
As you can probably tell from these pursuits, I'm very interested in marketing and promoting independent filmmaking and producing. One of the reasons I became involved with the NFA and started my blog was to be able to network with other like minded individuals and to continue learning about what's going on in the industry. With so many new business models for marketing and distribution emerging and the challenging economic conditions facing filmmakers, it's great to find out what's working and being introduced into the marketplace and I look forward to hearing your thoughts and opinions and sharing ideas.
