The title of this movie has a double meaning. It reminds me of that scene in The Simpsons where Wayland Smithers is buying an estrogen drug, and he insists it's "for a friend who's trapped in the body of another friend."
At first we think the movie is about s*xual identity. The hero's girlfriend says she was born the victim of nature's cruelest trick, a boy trapped in a girl's body. She started wearing women's clothing at the age of 17 and then later had the necessary "procedure." The hero is sympathetic and tells her he'll still love her, at which point she freaks out and says they whole thing was a trick. Oh, so the movie's really about a lying beyotch.
This is one of the funniest treatments I've seen of this scenario since Seth Rogen found out his girlfriend was born with both boy and girl parts in Freaks and Geeks. Just as the girl in Trick wonders how her boyfriend will react, I can't quite tell if this movie is sympathetic to the plight of transgendered people. I'll leave that for you to decide.
