What can I say? The Minor Prophets know how to make me laugh. They may not make the prettiest pictures in the world - I don't think they've ever heard of the term "key light" - and some of their movies are padded with pregnant pauses that go on way too long. But none of that really matters. Nobody cares what Clerks looks like; they just care about the jokes. Same thing goes for the Minor Prophets.
Most of their movies focus on male aggression and the petty rivalries that develop between friends. The Golden Pants is a mini-epic about a retired naval captain who hires a dock boy to help him find a legendary pair of pants so he can win a foot race. The 20-minute video features two original songs that are so catchy and hilarious they make me wish there was more music on this channel. 4th and 99 is my personal favorite. It's about a football player named Bobby Makefield, whose old man won't be winning Father of the Year anytime soon. This is the Minor Prophets' best-looking film and their most satirically sharp. Other movies are just plain odd, like The Lonely Professor and Road Scholars. Be patient and I promise you'll get something out of them.
This channel is for fans of comedic shows like Mr. Show and The State, where you get to see the same performers trying on different hats. My favorite Minor Prophets player is Damon. I like his 30-year-old grade-schooler in 4th and 99, and his hysterically offensive autistic kid in S*xual Genius. But his best role would have to be as the gun-wielding Italian winemaker in In Vino Veritas. His ridiculous accent makes Roberto Benigni sound like a native English speaker, and his performance alone makes the movie worth watching.
