The Path of Gen - Teaser
"This is just a really well done teaser."
This is a teaser for a film I'm doing. It's a scifi flick. My production company, Conjure Studios is producing it and the VFX division, Conjure FX is doing the visual effects. This film is still in pre-production and still casting for certain characters.

A good strategy for getting funding for your film is to shoot a trailer. One of the more famous examples is Blood Simple, when the Coen Brothers hired Barry Sonnenfeld to shoot a trailer for their feature film debut. The result? A classic film noir shot in Texas for $1.5 million that launched some very respectable Hollywood careers.

J. Ryan Baxter has taken this route to help promote his forthcoming science-fiction film, The Path of Jen: The Jenoloria Chronicles. From the teaser, it looks like a cross between Underworld and Resident Evil, so I can't wait to see the final product.

The title character is a badass, gun-wielding Goth chick who travels from galaxy to galaxy hunting down the evil “shifters.” We don't get to see what the shifters look like, but from the way they're described in the teaser they sound like aliens that take the form of whatever species they're trying to conquer, like the pod people in Invasion of the Body Snatchers. The cinematography has the same cool black-and-blue look as Underworld, while the folks at Conjure Studios have conjured up some impressive visual effects work. The movie looks like it's going to create its own mythology and embrace the over-the-top style of video game action. This is just a really well done teaser.
