This isn't so much a review as it is a shameless effort to get more live-performance videos on the site. We have the DeepRockDrive stuff that Bully uploaded, and now we have this, a live acoustic set by the Duke Spirit at KEXP studios in Seattle. But I want more. More, damnit!
Watching concerts or live performances online is usually a less-than-pleasurable experience. Either you've got some guy filming a band on his cell phone, or the resolution and sound quality are just too poor to really enjoy the performance. But none of that is the case with the live-performance videos on Openfilm. They look and sound great, so imagine the possibilities.
KEXP has been bringing its eclectic music programming to the Seattle listening area since 1972 and to the online community since 2000. It's recently hosted such indie bands as Ra Ra Riot, We Are Scientists, The Jealous Girlfriends and Spanish for 100. To have all of them in HD on Openfilm would be heaven on earth!
This video features two songs by the Duke Spirit, which are a U.K. rock band that formed in 2003, and KEXP DJ Cheryl Waters' interview with vocalist Liela Moss. Both songs, "Lassoo" and "The Step and the Walk," are off of the band's new album, Neptune. The set is short and sweet - a small taste of what is to come, let's hope.
