Back to the Future is one of my favorite movies, so it was easy for me to love this satire of the greatest sci-fi comedy of the 1980s. What PhylactereCola has done is to come with a brilliant concept, so as to justify messing around with the sacred text of the original. Everybody understands that PhylactereCola and PatrickBoivin are one and the same, right? That's the only reason I can come up with as to why this video doesn't already have thousands of hits.

Back to the Future is a cross between the beloved Robert Zemeckis-Bob Gale film and Weekend at Bernie's. Here, Marty McFly has been renamed Nerdy. He's still a skateboard-loving teen, and his best friend is still a wacky old scientist named Doc. The Delorean time machine is now a van, but Nerdy and Doc are still dressed in the same outfits (red vest for Nerdy, white jumpsuit for suit). Director Patrick Boivin obviously loves Back to the Future, but he doesn't bother recreating the movie in painstaking detail. Retro has a much more slapdash visual strategy than the meticulous Radio. Instead, Boivin concentrates on making the movie funny.

I'm happy to report that he succeeds. Nerdy wants to use Doc's time machine so he can travel back in time and save the dad he never knew. Of course, the first thing he does when he arrives in the past is to run over and kill dear old Dad. This is especially bad for Nerdy because he was conceived on Prom Night 1974, which is a whole two days away. So he puts a shovel in Dad's back and treats him like a human ventriloquist's dummy. Is the movie in poor taste? You don't know the half of it, not until you've watched Doc tell Marty that "sperm can live up to 48 hours, and a cadaver keeps an erection forever!"

Retro's sense of humor may strike some as too oddball, but I loved it. I have no idea why Nerdy McFly's mom is a guy dressed in drag. All I can say is that it's funny.
