Many of the videos on this channel were created to spotlight up-and-coming recording artists. Openfilm is fast becoming a cool place to find out about new music, and this is one of the better channels to do that. There's lots of talent on display, both in front of and behind the camera.

Several videos are devoted to the work of Brooke Waggoner, and three of them alone feature the song "Live for the Sounds." That's not such a bad thing, because this song rocks. You get two different music videos for the song, plus an artist promo showing Waggoner in an unfurnished loft. Of the two music videos, I prefer the one simply titled Live for the Sounds. It really captures the mood of the song, and the costumes and locations are simply divine. The release show version is basically a random video showing a guy running around shedding his clothes. It's well-shot but not really tailored to the lyrics; it could have been used for just about any song, really. Other Brooke Waggoner music videos on the channel include Colorbloods (great song, okay presentation) and Young Friend (love the still-frame/zoom shots).

Two non-music videos are Doritos Time Travel, a clever entry into a Doritos commercial competition, and Donkey Kong, a rap song about the famous arcade game. Other films look like they're going to be regular comedies or dramas, but are actually long intros to music videos. One such film is Kill Her with a Kiss, which deserves a lot more hits than it's gotten. Great music and hilarious puppets - what more do you want?

One of the more experimental films on the channel is the music video for You Are Home by Levi Weaver. It features a cut-out character framed against drawn backgrounds and photographs, and uses sticks to change the scenery. Only the last chorus is animated. This is a highly imaginative music video. I also like the one for Angels in Airplanes by Another Robot Sunset. The lyrics are subversive ("all your thoughts are made in a factory"), and the last shot is a real stunner.
