Two scenes from Laurent Covet’s 3D animation project Marie, completed at the Vancouver Film School. The first shows a little girl with green eyes, orange hair and a mouthful of piranha teeth eating a piece of candy, and then collapsing onto a mound of discarded wrappers. (With that many wrappers, this kid should be as big as a house, but no matter.) In the second, the girl approaches a candy machine and makes a selection before the film cuts to black.

The music and tone suggest Marie might be a comedic horror movie, like Toy Story told from the evil Sid’s perspective. The girl, her candy and the vending machine are vividly animated, but the backgrounds are kind of dull. Here’s hoping the full-length movie gets uploaded soon so we can see what all this is about.
