Brooke Waggoner has been playing the piano since age four, and this is obvious when you listen to her songs. Her lush, whispery vocals are almost always backed by a heavy orchestral score. This kind of classicism is put in visual terms in the music video for her song Live for the Sounds, which is nothing if not a classy music video.

Waggoner and her backup players are dressed like the bridesmaids at some kind of outdoor hippie wedding. Her vocals are backed by cellos and violins, and she plays the piano inside and outside a lovely country manor house. The video also shows the all-female performers on the rocky ledge of a pool and in the woods. Very, very classy.

But what's most striking about the video is its panoramic presentation and split-screen editing style. In addition to her interest in classical music, Waggoner has also said that she'd like to work as a composer for films someday. The video has a very cinematic feel. The director whose work it most resembles is Brian De Palma. It's an exhilarating song, by the way; I've already listened to it five times. Waggoner is a talent to watch in the very near future, and Live for the Sounds is a music video to watch right now, this second.
