Nominated for Best Animated Film at the 2007 YoungCuts Film Festival, Faded is a stop-motion short about a recurring dream a little girl has about her dead brother. In the dream, the girl is wandering in the woods when she’s visited by the ghost of her brother. The siblings play on opposite sides of a tree trunk. When they touch, his hand fades away.
The movie is a poignant story about memory, in which the girl’s loved one literally fades from view with each passing year. The character design and subtle score give the film the feeling of a Native American myth. This is the work of a gifted storyteller.
