Directed by Jeremy Cohen and Gopal Bidari, Be a Trojan Man is an irresistible music video for the hip-hop group Shanka D-Russ. It was made with a grant from the trusty prophylactic company Trojan Condoms, so along with the usual booty-shaking you get a positive message about safe s*x. That's good, because who could remain abstinent will all these s*xy music videos floating around?
A nerdish, tubby virgin goes to a drug store to buy a box of condoms. Of course, the clerk turns out to be super-hot, causing him to knock over a display stand. On a nearby TV, the lucky members of Shanka D-Russ are in the middle of a pool party with some bikini-clad models. They bump and grind while the tubby guy purchases the condoms and foolishly ignores the advances of the clerk. He goes outside and kisses a prostitute on the lips. Eww.
Hip-hop videos are often criticized for subjugating women, but it's hard to get so uppity when the girls look so good (looove the shot of that girl ripping open a condom with her teeth) and the lyrics are so clean and educational. "Protect yourselves from diseases, HIV and gonorrhea." That's not exactly "smack my bitch up," now is it?
