In the new structure, the Openfilm community and the Openfilm Executive Team, will choose 10 finalist films. The Advisory Board, led by James Caan, will then screen and evaluate each finalist film and collectively choose a grand prize winner.
All of us at Openfilm are excited that this extended contest period will allow for a larger pool of submissions and more time for our community to watch the entrant films. We feel confident that this expanded framework will benefit filmmakers and film fans at all stages of the competition - from submission to watching the entries to voting.
Additionally, by offering a larger prize package, while continuing to recognize a large number of contestants as finalists, our ultimate goal of delivering quality feature-length productions to the public will also be more rapidly attained.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us at info@openfilm.com with the subject GIM competition concerns. And filmmakers should remember that although the official Get It Made voting period does not start until the submission period has closed, a film in competition is available for viewing as soon as it has been officially entered. It is always to your benefit to enter the contest early, for it allows more time, and people, to see your film!
Just think: We're just upping the ante for this incredible, career-changing contest. We hope to see your hard work in the 2nd Get It Made competition and all those to come.
