When I first began in this business, I realized that succeeding had a lot to do with talent, creativity, a belief in yourself, some thick skin and luck.
But, I’ve met a lot of creative people with talent, passion and belief, who never got the opportunity to show that creativity on either side of the camera because of the luck factor, like not being in the right place at the right time. I believe that Openfilm can be that right place and time.
When it comes to making movies, the Internet is changing the rules. Large studio and indie films are now produced using a wide range of digital technologies, distributed to your computer and even your phone. At Openfilm, we take that transformation one step further. We’re going to help get your work funded, produced and distributed. With our technology, which is unlike anyone else’s, we have the ability to advance independent film on the Internet in the highest quality.
On Openfilm, your work will be seen by film audiences globally and by some of the world’s greatest writers, directors, actors and producers. We offer, unlike others, an Advisory Board who will, along with you, be actively involved in our quarterly and yearly contests and participate in our Openfilm Live webcam chat series.
Our Advisory Board currently consists of Mark Rydell, a great director who has spent a large portion of his life as Artistic Director of the famed Actors Studio West. His passion for teaching and coaching makes him an integral part of our team. I will also be joined by one of my dearest friends, Robert Duvall, who is, without a doubt, one of the greatest actors produced in America or anywhere else for that matter. And by my son, Scott Caan, who is a wonderful writer, director and actor and is close with many of the new, talented artists on both sides of the camera. We’re looking forward to being joined by other members in the future who want to be part of this exciting venture.
