About the Festival

After six successful years of the Lake County Film Festival, it feels like we finally have a well rounded mission that we are fulfilling. Our mission originally was simply to celebrate independent film. To find an interesting, unique and diverse collection of films, to program them, promote them, and show them to an interesting, unique and diverse group of people. Since developing our relationship our hosting sponsor, The College Of Lake County, we've had the resources to cultivate strong relationships with a new community, building another solid base of eager film aficionados and creating an educactional component to the festival. In six years we have grown from a Sunday double-feature into last years' 5-day, 100+ screenings film festival with attendance around 3000. Through monthly screenings and publicity for other nearby events, the LCFF is NOT just about a yearly event, but about bringing good films to our area, in whatever capacity possible. Our reputation as a filmmaker-friendly festival is well deserved. Last year, in-town transportation was covered for all out of town filmmakers, and one night's hotel stay was given to all feature directors. Additionally we had a filmmaker lounge with free food and beverages all day.
