Description: Archy and Mehitabel is Lee Waters (vocals) and Alexander Horwitz (instruments).
Alexander's lineage as a musician and composer can be traced all the way back to J.S. Bach. Alexander studied with Meredith Monk who studied with John Cage who studied with Arnold Schoenberg...you get the idea.
Lee holds a master's degree in Slavic linguistics and speaks several rather strange languages.
Alexander and Lee do/play/record/produce everything you hear. Whenever possible, real instruments were used instead of samples, and there isn't a single loop to be found. Even the bells you hear at the start of "Patrimony" are a glass marimba built from carefully filled wine glasses.
Alexander plays on Steinway pianos and harpsichords by Zuckermann. Lee uses a Neumann microphone on all his recordings.
Lee is color blind. Alexander is a color synesthete.
Both of them are from the same area of the middle of nowhere. But they never met until they lived in the same derelict industrial park in Brooklyn, NY.
