The show is off to a great start. Hugh Jackman sure is a versatile guy - not only can he grow knives out of his knuckles, but he can sing and dance with the best of ‘em.

Penelope Cruz wins Best Supporting Actress - hooray! She created the most hilarious portrait of an artist in Woody Allen's Vicky Cristina Barcelona, which proved once and for all that Scarlett Johansson couldn't act her way out of a paper bag.

Good god, Dustin Lance Black looks young. I knew the screenwriter of Milk was in his 30s, but this guy looks like he just graduated from high school. He gave the most inspirational acceptance speech. Interesting tidbit: Black's hero is screenwriter Eric Roth, a fellow nominee for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

The Duchess wins Best Costume Design. Speaking of which, what the hell is Mickey Rourke wearing?

Haha - they're making fun of Joaquin Phoenix.

Slumdog Millionaire is on a roll. Maybe I was wrong about that whole Milk-upset thing.

This is my favorite Oscars ever! That Pineapple Express parody was comic gold. James Franco as Saul Silver watching James Franco as Scott Smith make out with Sean Penn as Harvey Milk - genius!
10:05
Heath Ledger wins Best Supporting Actor - hooray! Seriously, can you think of a single other performance that's created such a worldwide sensation? Maybe Anthony Hopkins in The Silence of the Lambs, but that's it. R.I.P. Heath.
10:30
Quit smiling, Danny Boyle!

Where's Christian Bale's crazy ass?
11:32
Kate Winslet wins Best Actress. I'm starting to dig this new approach to the acting awards. It felt weird when Penelope won, but now I think having past winners come up on stage to introduce the nominees is a cool idea.
11:42
Sean Penn wins Best Actor. I wanted Mickey to win, but he brought down the house at the Independent Spirit Awards, so that's cool.
11:52
Slumdog Millionaire wins Best Picture. OK, so I was wrong about Milk pulling an upset. If I had half a brain I would have known that the final answer was staring me right in the face at the beginning of Slumdog: D) It is written.
