"Snow White and the Huntsman" -- Box-Office Queen with $56.3 Million Opening! "The Avengers" Becomes the No. 3 Movie of All Time!

"Snow White and the Huntsman" proved to be the fairest of them all at the box-office this past weekend. Universal Pictures' action retelling of "Snow White" opened strongly at No. 1 with $56.3 million. Hollywood was expecting about $30 million for the flick starring "Twilight's" Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron as Queen Ravenna, and Chris Hemsworth as the Hunstman.

Overseas, "Snow White" sold $39.3 million of box-office tickets for a grand total of $95.6 million in its debut weekend.

Previous weekend's box-office champ, "Men in Black 3," fell to No. 2 with $29.3 million. Starring Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones, the threequel which added Josh Brolin to the mix has raised its domestic total to $112.3 million after two weekends and $78.6 million overseas for a grand total of $386.9 million. "MIB 3" took the top spot in the international market for this past weekend.

Meanwhile, Disney's superhero extravaganza, Marvel's "The Avengers," proved that it has strong legs amid competition. The film took in the third spot with $20.3 million for a total of $552.7 million.

"The Avengers" has bumped "The Dark Knight" to become the No. 3 biggest movie of all time behind "Avatar" ($760.5 million) and "Titanic" ($658.5 million).

Overseas, "The Avengers" also became the third biggest movie of all time past last year's "Harry Potter" finale for a worldwide total of $1.36 billion. "The Avengers" is also behind "Avatar") ($2.8 billion) and "Titanic" ($2.2 billion).

In limited release, The Weinstein Co.'s "Piranha 3DD" lacked bite with an abysmal debut of $179,000 in 86 theaters.

10. "For Greater Glory," $1.8 million.
