"Real Steel" vs. "Footloose" -- the Final Tally!

It was a fight to the finish between box-office champ "Real Steel" and new contender "Footloose." Over the weekend, the two movies were only separated by $200,000 but today, based on the box-office weekend actuals from BoxOfficeMojo, "Real Steel" gets to keep its crown

The Hugh Jackman film featuring the fantastic Dakota Goyo as his son reclaimed the top spot with $16.3 million.

Meanwhile, "Footloose" must settle for the No. 2 spot with $15.6 million. I enjoyed this remake, and I still stand by my claim that the remake was actually better than the first one!

"Footloose" was only made for $24 million so Paramount will be able to get its money back and much more within the next few weeks.

A remake that did not do as well was "The Thing." Well, it's more of a prequel, but still, the film only sold $8.5 million worth of tickets to debut at No. 3.

But the flop of the week belonged to Steve Martin, Jack Black, and Owen Wilson of the bird-watching comedy "The Big Year." The film earned $3.3 million to debut at No. 9...ouch!
