"Dolphin Tale" Swims Upward, Dethrones "The Lion King"

Last week "Dolphin Tale" debuted third at the box-office, but this weekend, the film claimed the top spot with $14.2 million. Inspired by the amazing true story of Winter, "Dolphin Tale" landed at No. 1 and successfully dethroned Disney's "The Lion King" which has been at the top spot for the past two weekends.

"The Lion King" fell to No. 3 with $11.1 million, while Sony's Brad Pitt flick "Moneyball" remained at No. 2 with $12.5 million.

Three new weekend releases failed to steal the top spot. "50/50" the cancer dramedy starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Seth Rogen debuted at No. 4 with $8.85 million, while the faith-based "Courageous" also from Sony opened at No. 5 with $8.8 million.

Universal did not screen "Dream House" for critics, and apparently, viewers were not in the mood to watch the scary flick as well. Daniel Craig, Rachel Weisz, and Naomi Watts star in the film which debuted at No. 6 with $8.2 million. (Check out our TOP 10 BEST HAUNTED HOUSE MOVIES right here)

Another film that flopped was Fox's romantic comedy "What's Your Number?" starring Anna Faris and Chris Evans which debuted at No. 8 with $5.6 million. Yikes!
