Last month, we told you that "The Social Network's" Armie Hammer, the face of the Winklevoss Twins, was in early talks to star opposite Johnny Depp in the planned big screen version of "The Lone Ranger." Now, Variety is confirming that the actor is in final negotiations to play the titular role of the Lone Ranger! Depp has been attached to the project as the sidekick, Tonto, and Gore Verbinski is still set to helm. The director previously worked with Depp in "Rango" and the first three "Pirates of the Caribbean" films. The script is written by "Revolutionary Road's" Justin Haythe.

But first, Depp will finish shooting Tim Burton's "Dark Shadows" project which is due for release May 11th of next year. Meanwhile, Hammer will star opposite Julia Roberts in "The Brothers Grimm: Snow White" and Clint Eastwood's "Hoover."
