Directed by the great Guillermo del Toro (Hellboy & Pan’s Labyrinth), this film is set in Spain at the end of the 1930s during the Spanish Civil War. Carlos, a 12 year old boy, was abandoned by his tutor at the orphanage in Santa Lucia, an imposing building isolated in the middle of a desolate wasteland. There, he will discover the tragic secret that lies between the walls of the hostile orphanage. All hell breaks loose when a ghost and an evil care-taker haunt the orphanage.

2. LA LLORONA

Based on a popular legend, this Mexican film is about a woman who drowned and threw her children in a nearby irrigation ditch, never to be found by la Llorona again. And so her wails, “Ay Mis niños, donde están mis niños?” or “Oh my children, where are my children?” are always heard on nights where she is cited.

As a sentence for her crimes, the woman is executed. Time passes and the descendants of the llorona’s lover decide to hire a nanny to care for their children, but they will get quite a surprise.
