So, this is not a Pixar film, even though there are many Pixar folks attached. It's still a Disney production with Andrew Stanton making his first live-action film.

In this fourth installment of the popular franchise, Tom Cruise returns to his Ethan Hunt character with help from producer J.J. Abrams. Cruise is also getting a story credit along with Abrams. Josh Appelbaum and André Nemec wrote the screenplay for Brad Bird, making his first live-action feature.

"Brave" looks dazzling, and this new Pixar film is not a sequel nor based on anything. It's original, so I hope Pixar will redeem themselves after giving us the reheated, not-that-funny "Cars 2."

Pixar continues to be the king at the box-office! "Cars 2" becomes the 12th film of the animation studio to debut at No. 1. The animated adventure, featuring the voices of Larry the Cable Guy as Mater and Owen Wilson as Lightning McQueen, landed at the top with $68 million.

My expectations were low for Disney/Pixar’s “Cars 2.” The first film in the franchise, which was released in 2006, was my least favorite in the Pixar canon for it lacked the narrative magic that made the animation studio great.

We all remember Sully (voiced by John Goodman) and Mike (Billy Crystal) and their scream factory in the endearing 2001 monster hit "Monsters Inc." from Disney/Pixar.
