It's very gloomy at the House of Mouse. Their $250 million plus project, "John Carter," failed to reach box-office Nirvana and one executive even suggested that this could be the biggest Hollywood flop since Michael Cimino's "Heaven's Gate" in 1980.

This past weekend at the box-office, "Dr. Seuss' The Lorax" continued to shine while the out-of-this-world adventure, "John Carter," failed to match expectations or its reported $250 million budget!

And here you go, my movie review of "John Carter" starring Taylor Kitsch in the title role from director Andrew Stanton, the guy who gave us "Finding Nemo" and "Wall-E."

And we thought we won't be able to see this picture much less the movie. Troubled by rumored escalating costs ($250 million and counting supposedly), Walt Disney Pictures had second thoughts about making the Jerry Bruckheimer-produced, Gore Verbinski-directed, Johnny Depp-starred "The Lone Ranger."

Is it possible to love a piece of dead fish more than you love people? That’s the question asked, implicitly if not directly, by David Gelb’s documentary Jiro Dreams of Sushi, a portrait of 85-year-old sushi master Jiro Ono that is itself as meticulous and carefully formed as a piece of nigirizushi.

"John Carter" begins by telling us we really don’t know Mars. Perhaps defensively, the filmmakers are inviting us to open our minds about the red planet, the film’s setting.

So, this is not a Pixar film, even though there are many Pixar folks attached. It's still a Disney production with Andrew Stanton making his first live-action film.
