The Writers Guild of America (WGA) has announced the winners of the WGA Awards for outstanding achievement in writing. In the Screenplay category, "Midnight in Paris," written by Woody Allen, took home the ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY award while "The Descendants"

Woody Allen, riding high with his fantastic film "Midnight in Paris" (currently at No. 9, a feat for a season cluttered with blockbuster films), has announced full cast for his latest film "The Bop Decameron."

It was a proud President of the FIFE International Environmental Film Festival of Paris, who stepped on to the stage of the Conseil de Paris, near the Pagode Cinema Babylone to announce the closing night ceremony of the 37th event.

"I can't believe it's been over 50 years since I first stepped foot in Gombi," explained Dr. Jane Goodall.

Since 1997, Rencontres internationales,multimedia contemporary works of cinema, video and other audiovisual forms have been presented in the last months of the year, first in Paris, then in Berlin and lastly, in Madrid, a cornucopea of international 'art' works by lesser-known artists to the public, due to the more "difficult" nature of the abstract creations.

The aim ot Rencontres internationales is thereby, to offer a greater visibility of such works to the ordinary viewer, promote their circulation in areas they otherwise might not appear, and to foster exchanges between the various creative media and between their artists, directors and the actors of that cultural scene.

The first week of this 9th two-prong event (feature competition and then documentaries) has ended at the L'Arlequin Cinema in Paris 'trendy Quartier Latin with the presence of top-knotch Brazilian filmmakers, actors and producers, flown over for the event to present each of the two dozen films in competition.

Big names of Brazil's 'cinema novo' period such as Miguel Farias, Carlos (Caca) Diegues, Sergio Rezende, Joao Batista de Andrade boasted a vigorous older-generation slate of works to compete with talented newercomers like Tata Amoral, the only female feature director, Heitor Dhalia, Karim Ainouz and Cao Hamburger.
